A New Beginning

Photobucket

After a long lapse, I am back again. My last post was early this year but God has not been idle. So, I am back here to continue my journey with Christ.

This Christmas, I was brought back to a beginning. Retracing the beginning of my journey, and re-experiencing God. And the beginning is always the wonder of this world we live in. Beyond the power of His law in mathematics, science, music and the arts, I think that if we do not experience the breathtaking awesomeness of such beauty, we are missing the greatest, most important experience in our lives. The beginning of knowing God is to simply be awed by Him - by the beauty of the world around us, the sunsets, the gurgling streams, the sweet rose, the cooling wind, all these things.

When the ancients experienced this beauty, they sang and danced and feasted and built temples. They celebrated with joy and they reached out with their own gifts, gifts that reflected the best that they can do, that they can be. They sacrificed that which they held most dear - the best of the harvest, the choicest meat, and yes, even vestal virgins.

Have we, in this modern and clinical world, forgotten how to behold beauty? What it means to feel this wonder in our hearts? No wonder then that we ask, where is God?

[I just reread my previous posts and realized that indeed, I am back where I started. That this fresh revelation is not new at all. How about that?]
